The Power of Answers

“Show me Your ways, O Lord; Teach me Your paths.” – Psalm 25:4 (NKJV)

Theologians agree that the prayers of the Bible lead to powerful answers. They represent a profound dialogue rather than a mere monologue, emphasising the relational aspect between humanity and our Divine God. In Philippians 4:6, we read that we should let our requests be made known to God, and His peace will guard us – what a relationship!

There are prayers for:

  1. Guidance – Psalm 25:4-5 (NKJV) “Show me Your ways, O Lord, teach me Your paths. Lead me in Your truth, and teach me, for You are the God of my salvation…”. We are also admonished to allow God to guide us in all our paths (Proverbs 3:5-6).
  2. Trials – James 1:2-4 (NKJV) “My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.”
  3. Persistence – Luke 18:1-8 teaches about the persistent widow who never gave up until she got answers.

Prayer is a natural part of having a life-giving relationship with God, and understanding His desire for us is to be in communion with Him (Ezekiel 22:30)

We are called to seek God’s face, and He will hear and answer; Jeremiah 33:3 says, “Call to Me and I will answer.” Moreover, Matthew 26:41 reminds us to ‘watch and pray, so we will not fall into temptation.’ Jesus also said whatever we ask for in prayer, once we believe, we can have it (Mark 11:24).

Be faithful in prayer.

Prayer

Lord, I am asking You to help me be persistent in my prayer life so I will be like You. Whenever it is time to pray for any situation, I will be ready. Help me to be like the widow, who displayed courage, determination, and perseverance. Lord, I thank You for answering persistent prayers. I pray this in Jesus’ mighty name. Amen.
